about
We are living in times where we could all use more music, the kind of music that helps us to feel strong and dignified. Jeremiah Jae comes though 100 per cent with his new drop “Payne” off of forthcoming album Daffi. For starters, the song is bangin. Both beats and bars come from his jungle soul. A blend of west coast lean that is not afraid to look the biggest evil in the eye and still keep a hand on the wheel, with deep layers marked from Chi-town. The steady easy, keeping it raw flavor is the all Jeremiah Jae.
Payne is a nod to JJ’s grandmother’s maiden name. And we all know that when a track is bringing in the grandmothers, there is a bigger story we are about to share. The production of Payne, sonically and visually, is about understanding that somethings cannot be divided, sometimes we have to look at everything to make sense of anything. The gritty instrumentals open another dimension, and this is where the alter-ego of JJ lives. Inside of the Payne portal, you cannot unsee history, you cannot mistake the time stamps of oppression. This truth is the fuel for the feels of Payne.
(Chorus)
All I wear is Payne on my mind
I can't sleep I be high all the time
No 9 to 5 I'm on the grind
Was livin' check to check
Eating beans with the rice
Can't let em see you sweat I'm alright
But god knows sometimes I dont see the light
I feel it deep down inside
Stay on the search tryin' find
(Verse One)
I'm making them waves
I'm making the move
I'm taking the coup
Park around the back
Pull up with the map
Pull up to the bank
Pull around the back
Bitch niggas talking all that shit, throw em in the tank
Nigga smoking all that shit still put in work
Get ya feelings hurt
Throw em in the dirt
I got a bar for these niggas
I got a card for these niggas
I'll pull ya card, I'll pull ya card
I'm going harder my nigga
(Chorus) 1x
(Verse Two)
I'm going harder my nigga
I'm getting stronger my nigga
Nigga you soft in the middle
You'nt got bars nigga riddle
You'nt put dots on the map
You'nt put the squad on the back
Had to put the squad on the tracks
Show these lil niggas how to rap
Wrapping up the pack then its back rapping for the pack
See it goes in full circle
See these red dots hurt you
Leave a stain like bird poop
Now I need reimbursement
Ya body laying where the hearse is
This the part where the verse ends
Fade out close the curtain
(Chorus) 1x

Just discovered Sam Wilkes and some of his work and bass playing, and arrived to this record. It reminds me a lot to John Hassell/Eno era a bit more jazzy, and all the ambient music from the 80’s. I love it! Santi Umbert
Cousins team up on this raw and gritty rap outing. Oliver's smokey-toned MC'ing sits atop Jae's dusty b-movie grooves. Bandcamp New & Notable Mar 25, 2016
Wonderfully psychedelic and bleary-eyed hip hop. Relaxing and calming raps over Mndsgn's chill, lo-fi, almost ethereal beats. A match made in the clouds. Storm Gaza
